Winona Ribbed Fiberglass Planter – Modern Architectural Large Outdoor / Indoor Tall and Wide Span Block – Skinny (Narrow Depth)

Elevate Your Space with Architectural Texture

  • Fiberglass Material: Professional-grade construction provides extreme durability with a high-end, substantial feel—engineered to be lightweight for easy installation yet heavy-duty for permanent use.

  • Structural Integrity: This long span planter features specialized horizontal ribbing that acts as a natural exoskeleton, ensuring perfectly straight walls and eliminating the need for internal steel.

  • Modern Architectural Finish: Hand-finished in a UV-resistant Matte Slate Gray (Dark Gray) for a sophisticated, stone-like aesthetic that resists fading and cracking in all environments.

  • Skinny (Narrow Depth) Design: The 12" width is specifically optimized for tight spatial perimeters, walkways, and balcony edges where maintaining a slim footprint is essential.

  • Outdoor / Indoor Performance: Completely frost-proof, shatterproof, and fade-resistant; this span block is designed for 24/7 exposure in extreme heat or sub-zero climates, yet refined enough for luxury interiors.

  • Smart Functionality: Equipped with pre-drilled drainage holes and removable rubber plugs for effortless moisture control in both commercial lobbies and private terraces.

  • Dimensions: 30"L x 12"W x 17"H

The Designer's Perspective: Why Ribbed Texture Matters

The Winona is a strategic tool for creating visual rhythm. While smooth-walled planters lean toward a silent minimalism, the Winona’s ribbed texture introduces "architectural shadowing." Designers utilize this texture to break up the visual monotony of long corridors or large glass walls, providing a tactile contrast that softens industrial materials like concrete and steel.

At 17 inches tall, this is a tall and wide trough with a commanding presence that effectively defines boundaries. The horizontal ribs draw the eye along the length of the long span planter, making narrow spaces feel more expansive and grounded. Additionally, the Matte Slate finish is a hospitality favorite because the texture naturally disguises fingerprints and water spots better than smooth-surfaced alternatives.

The Science of Structural Geometry

While traditional long planters often require internal steel reinforcement to prevent "bellying" (the outward bulging of the walls), the Winona utilizes corrugated structural engineering. Much like the ridges in architectural steel siding or a shipping container, the "peaks and valleys" of the ribbed walls significantly increase the material’s structural rigidity.

This geometry allows the fiberglass to resist the outward pressure of heavy, wet soil and root expansion naturally. By eliminating internal steel, the Winona remains more maneuverable than reinforced models while maintaining a crisp, architectural silhouette that stays perfectly plumb over time.

Versatile Settings for the Winona Span Block

  • Residential Balconies: The skinny (narrow depth) footprint fits perfectly against railings, providing a lush green curtain without blocking walkways.

  • Restaurant & Cafe Dividers: Create a "living wall" to separate seating areas from traffic with a durable, textured barrier.

  • Office Foyer & Building Entries: Use this long block to frame doorways or guide guests through large, open environments.

  • Rooftop Decks: Lightweight for weight-sensitive structures but engineered for high-wind stability when properly ballasted.

  • Poolside Perimeters: The Slate Gray finish and ribbed texture hide water spots and maintain a premium, spa-like feel.

Verified Plant Pairings (Optimized for 12" Width / Depth x 17" Height)

The 17" vertical depth supports healthy root systems, while the skinny 12" width is best suited for plants with an upright or cascading growth habit.

For Privacy and Structural Lines:

  • Snake Plants: A designer staple; the vertical, sword-like leaves provide a sharp, clean contrast to the planter's horizontal ribs.

  • Horsetail Reed: This architectural plant grows straight up and thrives in the deep, contained soil of the Winona.

  • Sky Pencil Holly: A columnar shrub that stays narrow. The 17" vertical depth is perfect for its root system, allowing for vertical privacy.

For Color and Cascading "Spiller" Effects:

  • Silver Falls: A cascading plant with shallow roots that creates a shimmering silver "waterfall" over the dark gray finish.

  • Sweet Potato Vine: Offers vibrant lime-green or dark purple foliage that drapes elegantly over the ribbed edges.

  • Geraniums: Classic flowering plants that thrive in the 17" soil capacity and provide consistent seasonal color.

Pro-Tips for 2026: Stability Meets Drainage

  • High-Wind Stability (The Hybrid Method): For exposed rooftop or coastal placements, add 2–3 inches of heavy river rock to the base. Important: Place a layer of landscape fabric over the rocks before adding soil. This adds necessary weight to prevent tipping in high winds without creating a "perched water table" that causes root rot.

  • Maximize Drainage: Modern horticultural science recommends avoiding the old practice of a loose "gravel layer" without a barrier. For best results, use high-quality potting soil throughout the planter to ensure consistent moisture wicking.

  • Planter Risers: For optimal drainage, use slim planter feet to lift the trough 1/2 inch off the ground. This breaks the surface tension between the planter and the floor, allowing gravity to effectively pull excess water away from the root system.

The perfect whipper for protein powders
Color: Blue
Love, love this whipper. Had to finally replace my old one that I got several years ago that was battery operated. This rechargeable replacement is incredible. Thought I would miss my old one, but no. The 3 interchangeable attachments make it my go to for a ton of things. Perfect for mixing protein powders!

Reliable favorite kitchen tool
Color: Blue
This wonderful tool may be the most used tool in our kitchen. The hardest thing about it is to remember you can push the button and it runs- you don't have to hold it!. The charge on the rechargable battery last a long time- about 1 recharge per month- and we use it daily. We use the mixer attachment most. It works great for protein powders, collagen, iced tea or lemonade mix. It cleans easily and is waterproof- just make sure the cover is over the charging port. We have used it to froth milk, whip eggs, and as I said we use it daily to mix beverages. I worried about the price, but it is a great value because we bought it in December 2024 and it is more powerful and has already lasted longer than two whimpy ones.

Quality
Color: Black
This is by far the best frother I've used. Battery life is great. Its UX is excellent. Feels nice in the hand and has great power. Also like the on/off button as opposed to haveing to hold a switch down. Looking forward to getting their s3 scale.

Overall good frother
Color: Black
Bought the Maestri and the Zulay frother to test which one is better since both had good reviews. Returned the Zulay (see Zulay review) and kept the Maestri. Been using it for a few days now and works well. Mixes chai and hot chocolate well. It has one speed that is a good speed to mix, but not so fast that it causes the drink to spill over the top as long as the cup is filled to about 80% full. Because I tend to use the tall 20 oz Contigo autoseal cups, it could benefit from offering longer attachments to reach the bottom of the cup (note: that I did not find any company that offers longer attachment arms).

LOVE this frother and the creamy results!
Color: Black
I LOVE this gadget! And I'm not a gadget person. Since I got it a few days ago, I've switched from using my Nespresso coffee maker, which uses pods and which I really like, to using Starbucks instant coffee packets (cheaper and more environmentally friendly than pods). I put a packet of the coffee and two packets of Equal in a cup, add half and half, then use this frother to mix them. Within a few seconds -- no more than 5, if that -- I have a thick mound of creamy froth. Then I had the water to finish making the coffee. Fantastic. This thing is so easy and fun to use. This is not the cheapest frother available. I wanted a rechargeable unit that has sufficient power to make nice, creamy froth. Also, I didn't want to spend $10 and have the thing break and have to replace it. Reviews suggest the cheaper ones are fine if you don't regularly use a frother. I never used one before and didn't really think I would use it very often. But I like it so much, I've been using it twice a day. Also, I first saw one in use while traveling in India. Another guest at my small hotel had one, which she used to make a latte with rather than drink the rather tepid offering at the more tea-oriented hotel. That's when I decided to get one. I'll be taking it on future trips. Some come with travel containers; this one didn't. The only learning curve was making sure the cup or pitcher for the cream is deap enough not to splash out the cream. I think I'm actually using a little less cream than I used to because the volume increases so much. I use cold cream, not heated (I used to heat it in the microwave when I was using the NesPresso.) I find I like the initial contrast with the cold cream at the top, then I stir it down into the coffee. The Starbucks coffee is excellent. I've used it for iced lattes in the past, so I knew it was good. I can hardly wait for a heat wave to make them with this frother. I did try to beater attachment in eggs when I was making an omelet. Not worth the trouble -- first, the bowl I was using to beat the eggs was too shallow and egg got all over. Second, a fork works just as well. If I were whipping cream, I would definitely use it.
