Dieffenbachia 'Tiki' is a popular houseplant for its exotic and decorative foliage. Its large leaves feature a fascinating blend of dark green, light green, and marbled silvery-white patterns, creating a striking visual effect that immediately attracts attention. This plant is perfect for adding a tropical and sophisticated touch to your indoor space.
Origin :
Native to the rainforests of Central and South America, Dieffenbachia 'Tiki' belongs to a family of plants well known for its ornamental foliage and ease of care.
Growth :
Dieffenbachia 'Tiki' is a moderate to fast-growing plant indoors. It can reach a height of 60 to 90 cm, with leaves that can be up to 30 cm long. It forms a dense clump of leaves that spreads as it grows, making it an excellent choice for a focal point in a room.
Flowers:
Although Dieffenbachia 'Tiki' can produce inflorescences, they are quite inconspicuous and rarely appear indoors. The flowers are usually small and green, but they are not the main reason to grow this plant.
Light :
Dieffenbachia 'Tiki' prefers bright, indirect light. It also tolerates low light conditions, but to preserve its vibrant leaf patterns, it's best to provide moderate to bright light. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can burn its delicate leaves.
Watering:
Regular watering is necessary to keep the substrate evenly moist, but not excessively so. Allow the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings. In winter, reduce watering slightly, but avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Substrate:
A well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral potting soil is ideal for this plant. A standard potting mix with a little perlite to improve drainage is recommended. Good drainage is essential to avoid root rot problems.
Toxicity:
Like all Dieffenbachias, 'Tiki' is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. It contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause severe irritation to the mouth, throat, and stomach. It is advisable to keep it out of reach of children and pets.
