Delosperma echinatum 'Pickle Plant' Variegated is a quirky, eye-catching succulent prized for its fuzzy, pickle-like foliage and creamy variegation. Native to South Africa, this compact shrublet forms mounding, semi-trailing clumps, with slender stems that reach around 40–45 cm before gently arching and spilling over the edge of pots or rock crevices.

The cylindrical leaves are plump and juicy, patterned in fresh green with creamy-yellow to soft gold sectors, each leaf covered in fine translucent hairs that catch the light. Up close, the soft white spines give a charming, tactile look rather than a prickly feel. In late winter through spring, delicate pale yellow to off-white, daisy-like flowers appear along the stems, adding a soft contrast to the bold foliage.

Delosperma echinatum 'Pickle Plant' Variegated thrives in bright light with at least a few hours of direct sun, either outdoors in a sunny, sheltered spot or indoors on a bright windowsill. Use a very free-draining cactus or succulent mix and water deeply but sparingly, allowing the potting mix to dry out completely between waterings. It prefers low humidity and is best suited to warm temperate and coastal Australian climates; protect from heavy frosts and prolonged cold, especially in containers.

Perfect for small feature pots, mixed succulent bowls, windowsills, rockeries and as a softly cascading plant in raised beds or containers, this variegated pickle plant adds playful texture and colour all year round. Its compact size and drought tolerance make it an easy-care choice for collectors and beginners alike who enjoy something a little different in their succulent collection.

I want to thank the manufacturer for changing the design of this shape to an easier to swallow elliptical shape instead of the jaw breaker shape.

GREAT READ
Format: Hardcover
I can’t stop thinking about Laws of Love and Logic, a debut novel by Debra Curtis. It’s beautifully written, incredibly heartbreaking, but nevertheless hopeful. It’s definitely not your typical romance novel rather it’s heavily character driven, and thought provoking. The characters feel so real. The way the author writes about the sisters’ relationship will stay with me forever. Also, having grown-up Catholic, I was so inspired to see progressive Catholicism with an emphasis on serving the most vulnerable, as being a foundational part of the sisters’ lives. The story spans decades, opening in the 70s and follows the characters into middle age. If you like books by Elizabeth Strout and Ann Patchett, you’ll love this one.
